The Beauty of Aerial Photography

Aerial Photography - 20 Aerial Photos
One of the reasons aerial is one of my favorite types of photography is that it gives a different perspective to things. Think about it, none of the pictures in this post would look as unique if they weren’t aerial.

Ford FAB1: JetCar Concept Pictures
Those of you who watched Thunderbirds, a highly budgeted science fiction 2004 film have probably already seen this Ford FAB1, it is pretty much a combination of a car and a jetplane. It was designed by a crew of dedicated engineers especially for the film, and while we don’t really like the pink, the “features” seems to be lucrative.

Diesel Takes on Global Warming

In their latest ad campaign, Diesel shows that people can look cool and embrace the effects of global warming, or as they choose to put it “Global Warming can’t stop our lives“. The most impressive thing about their ads however is the beautiful imagery.

Seeing well-known locales and structures in what they could look like if all the global warming predictions come about is quite amazing. Terry Richardson is the designer behind these works.

Venture One: Hybrid Three-Wheeled Plug-In

Tuesday, February 20th, 2007

Venture has announced the production of the hybrid Venture One. A car with three-wheels that “tilts” around corners. It goes 0-60 in just 6 seconds, its max speed is over 100mph and gets 100 miles per gallon. All this for under US$20,000. As a bonus, the car is made to look totally awesome.

It is a true step forward for the automotive industry.

Wacky or Smart? Special Architectures for Elders

Wacky or Smart? Special Architectures for Elders

Japanese Artist, Shusaku Arakawa, built and designed these houses for elderly people. This might seem odd, especially when you consider some of the features of said apartments, such as sloping floors, no closets and light switches in random locations on walls. But Arakawa sums it up in the following explanation:

People, particularly old people, shouldn’t relax and sit back to help them decline. They should be in an environment that stimulates their senses and invigorates their lives.

He also hopes it will catch on around the globe. It might, but only inside amusement parks.

The Table Saw CD Player

The Table Saw CD Player
Coming with two speakers, this Player resembles a simple table saw except the blade is replaced with the CD of your choice. The player looks and sounds awesome. As a bonus, it is battery operated and completely wireless. The CD Player is still conceptual although these guys are going in the right direction.

Designer Lamps

Monday, February 12th, 2007

Lamps are usually relatively bland, except for the lava-lamps, so it is refreshing when really cool looking lamps come around. Take these “machine” lamps designed by Frank Buchwald for example.

Cars of the Future
Actually, car designs of the future.

Peugeot had a contest where people sent in their car designs of the future. The final 10 have been chosen and they are all spectacular. Interestingly enough, the winning design will actually be made into a real, working car.

Maybach Exelero Pictures- The 8 Million Dollar Car
According to Mercedez-Maybach, this 8 million dollar Exelero is and will stay one-of-a-kind, although the interest in this large sized sports car is huge, Mercedez are unlikely to produce another beautiful monster like this one anytime soon.

The Exelero sports a 23 inch wheels and is about 20 feet long. It was created after the engineers of Maybach were challenged to create a heavy 2000 lbs. vehicle that could reach 200 miles per hour. Some rough numbers: Acceleration 0-62 in 4.4 seconds, horsepower: 700 and a V12 twin-turbo engine.
