With all they hype surrounding comic book movies these days, it’s easy to forget the genre’s retarded. red-headed step brother: movies based on video games. There have been some good (Lara Croft: Tombraider, Resident Evil), and there have been some bad (pretty much everything else, but most notably Bloodrayne and House of the Dead), but it looks like they are on the upswing, with some films that have major talent on board scheduled to be released in the upcoming year, including Prince of Persia with Jake Gyllenhall, and a Street Fighter follow up that focuses on Chun-Li, starring Smallville alumni Kristin Kreuk.

The cream of the crop appears to be Max Payne. The game is already heavily influenced by the John Woo style of cinema, and is even referenced in the first version. The gritty, film noir elements in the third person shooter should also lend themselves to a cinematic adaptation. Marky Mark is slated to star in the lead role, and having the uber-sexy Mila Kunis attached couldn’t hurt either.

Legendary rapper and linguist Snoop Doggy Dogg, has teamed up with one of India’s hottest musical acts, Akshay Kumar, to produce a music video which will feature both performers. The video is said to incorporate both Bhangra and Hip-Hop elements, and may even lead to a film starring the two in the near future.

It was only a matter of time.

Paramedics were called to the home of Amy Winehouse on Monday night, where they collected the troubled singer and rushed her to nearby University College Hospital for treatment. Her spokesman, Chris Goodman, said that she had reacted poorly to some medication.

You could stuff a grab bag of barbituates down this maniac’s throat and she would just cackle and cry out for more, so unless crystal-meth is now considered medication, then I call bullshit. I’m guessing she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror and suffered serious cuts on her hands from the ensuing scuffle.

A month ago I challenged Shia LaBeouf to do something more news-worthy than trespassing in a Walgreens and getting caught smoking in the bathroom of a museum, both of which sound like crimes committed by Bart Simpson. He responded this weekend, by flipping his truck over while driving drunk in Los Angeles, injuring his female passenger, as well as the driver of another vehicle he crashed in to in the process.

Please. This barely even registers on the celebrity dumb-shit richter scale. It sounds like something a Kardashian would do for attention. If Shia plans on becoming a major Hollywood star he needs to seriously step up his game. I recommend fist-fighting your mom and sister in an upscale hotel. I bet that would work.

Funny I’m writing about this - A friend of mine told me he sometimes keeps the TV on so thieves would think he’s awake watching TV. Thing is if you own a 42-inch plasma like rich jerks like me do, leaving it on for a whole night or a whole day can a) be costly. b) ruin the damn thing.

Well, Fake TV ($40) solves the problem: It features a series of LED lights that glow to simulate the changing screen of a real TV. So if you live in the Bronx or something I suggest you move out can’t afford a closed circuit security system and are away from home often, this can be a nice idea.

Almost all good movies are adapted from good books. Just ask Walt Disney, who built an empire by pilfering the classics and transporting them on to the silver screen.

After the movie, there’s always some pretentious asshole who has read the book too, and he’s like ‘the book was far superior.’ Yeah, well you know what I liked about the movie? It was two hours long and didn’t require any reading, so fuck that guy. But sometimes he’s right, and a good book is just raped and ruined by it’s film counterpart to the point of no return. So we’ll take a look at some of the worst offenders of bad movies made from good books.

Awhile back we brought you a video in which NASA scientists made magnetic fields visible. Watch. Now those pesky magnetic fields are at it again, and this time, they are the key to unlocking the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, a naturally occurring phenomenon that has puzzled scientists for decades.
